The Constant Gardener Trust
Rachel is one of the founding members (Patrons).
During filming of the Constant Gardener, the company strategy was to support local communities in Kibera and Loiyangalani where most of the film was shot, using local labor where feasible and paying fairly for the work done.
The fees rightly and duly earned by both entire communities and individuals during the making of “The Constant Gardener” have, after close discussion between those communities and the Film Company, been channelled into a number of carefully considered projects.
The Constant Gardener Trust, set up by a small group of the filmmakers, is determined to see through what the film started and to continue supporting both of these communities in a focused and specific way.
The commitment of The Constant Gardener Trust is to listen to, guide, help and encourage, young and old alike. Through education and example, the potential of individuals will be realized in order to better harness the talents and skills of the communities as a whole.
The young are the future of any country. Their attitudes, ambitions and ideas are those which will shape that future.

United Nations World Food Programme (WFP)
Rachel is one of the celebrity partners.
Among the Millennium Development Goals which the United Nations has set for the 21st century, halving the proportion of hungry people in the world is top of the list.
Every year, WFP publishes an annual publication listing data on its operations, including expenditures, food shipments/deliveries, resources, transport and staff. Drawing on a variety of sources, including non-governmental organisations and other UN Agencies, WFP also compiles useful facts and figures on the general state of world hunger; this data covers malnutrition, child hunger, agricultural production and global food aid.
“We are very proud that Rachel, who is a committed WFP celebrity partner, has won this most prestigious award [Academy Award]. We are grateful for the tremendous opportunity that the movie has provided to raise awareness of hunger and poverty,” WFP Executive Director James Morris.
