Rachel Weisz, the British actress, has added her voice to calls for tighter privacy laws.
Asked about her views on The Andrew Marr Show, she said her “knee-jerk reaction” was that “there should be some law in place”.
Weisz, who won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 2006 for her performance in The Constant Gardener, said she had not personally experienced much press intrusion.
Despite being one of Britain’s highest paid actresses, Weisz does not have as high a profile in the UK as others such as Sienna Miller or Kate Winslet.
She has not been asked to give evidence to the Leveson Inquiry into culture, practice and ethics of the press, set up in the wake of the phone hacking scandal at the News of the World.
