Ryan Gosling has left the Peter Jackson-directed The Lovely Bones, literally on the eve of shooting, Variety reports.
The Canadian actor, who gained 20 pounds and a beard for the role, stepped aside one day before shooting began due to “creative differences,” sources told Variety.
The now portly Gosling will be replaced by Mark Wahlberg in the adaptation of the Alice Sebold novel.
Wahlberg will play grieving father Jack Salmon, whose daughter has been murdered. He joins Rachel Weisz, Susan Sarandon and Stanley Tucci in the film.

Yes, I heard about Ryan Gosling leaving. Rumor has it that he left because Peter Jackson wasn’t pleased that Gosling had changed his appearance so dramatically for the film, so he left, and Mark Wahlberg took his place. Apparently, Jackson had never instructed Gosling to gain weight and grow a beard. No idea if this is true, but that’s the rumor. :/
